How To Make Recycled Pots

In the world we live in, making recycled pots is always a smart way to protect the environment and save money.

Plant lovers often want good pots for their plants, as they don’t settle for anything to care for their beloved house plants. For this reason, they fill their home with pots and other elements that are used to store plants such as pots.

What they did not know is that they can save a lot of money on pots by recycling old items that they have in their house, such as wheels. In addition, all this is going to be very respectful to the environment, since we are giving a second life to a material that was going to be discarded in a bad way.

But not only do we have these reasons for creating recycled pots, but we can also say that this activity is a great activity to spend with the family. Imagine how much fun you are going to have with your children creating a recycled pot since you are also going to show them the value of recycling and defending the environment and animals.

For this reason, for the sake of the environment and crafts, I advise you to create these pots to fill your home with very pretty recycled pots. In addition, this craft is very easy to do, since even a child could do it.

Today we are going to show you step by step how you can recycle two items you have at home that are disgusting, such as tires and beer kegs, to turn them into a fabulous pot, suitable for any garden and with very good aesthetics and very good design.

What do you need to make recycled pots?

  • An old car wheel.
  • A lid.
  • Spray paint.
  • A barrel.
  • Scissors, glue, and so on.

Instructions for making recycled pots

  1. Recycled pot with tires:
The first recycled pot design that we have is the pot recycled from wheels, that is, from old tires that are not used. This will allow us to get a pot with a rustic design, which fits quite well in the garden and also allows the pots to create a street effect. In addition, we will be able to take advantage of the punctured tires that we have at home, which will have a second life as a flowerpot.
  2. Cut the wheel to our liking;
The first thing we are going to do is cut the wheel to our liking, that is, we are going to polish the edges, make it smaller, or shape it in another way. What I do is cut the upper part, so that we have a bowl shape and not a wheel, as in the photo below. For this, we will use gardener’s scissors, which cut everything.
  3. Paste the lid from below
Once we have made the design of the wheel, we must put a lid on the bottom of it to be able to make a flower pot. This is because a wheel is hollow both above and below and we only want it to be hollow above. We are going to glue a lid to the bottom of the pot, so that this is a full-fledged pot, and we are going to cut it out so that it has a better design.
  4. Paint:
Although I do not recommend it because it takes away from the rustic design of the craft, it may be a good idea to paint the pot a specific color. This is done very well with gratifftero spray, which is sold at any paint store at a very good price. We can paint the new pot in the color we want, making it integrate into the aesthetics of any garden.
  5. Recycled pot with barrels:
The second model of the recycled pot is a slightly simpler model than the previous model since the operations we have to do are smaller and the pieces are easier to get than in the previous step. I’ve used a barrel because a barrel is like two bowls joined together, so the half-barrel shape will resemble the flower pot with hardly any changes to it.
  6. Cut the barrel in half:
The first thing we are going to do to make our recycled pot is cut the barrel in half, doing it right in the middle. Now we can take either of the two halves and use it as a pot since both are identical. My advice is to use both, one of each color, to see how they would look.
  7. Now we are going to take the spray again and we are going to paint the new pots in the color we want, trying to cover the entire surface of it with the spray paint that we have bought. You also have the option of leaving it rustic leaving it unpainted, but that is to everyone’s taste.
