Use orange-red and blue to make brown
- For this mixture you must have paint in an orange tone, if you do not have it, you can make the first mixture, starting with red paint. Grab almost all of the brown paint you will need. Notice that the color you get should be more reddish, and not so yellow, for this you will use yellow at most 10% of the amount that you are going to use red. The result will be a dark orange color.
- Next we are going to add the color blue. To obtain the brown color you must add a quantity of blue between 5 and 10% of the total orange mixture. Mix the paint very well until you have the color you want with no strands of orange or blue paint in the mix. If it looks too orange on you, you just have to add more blue. If you want a darker brown, try a darker shade of blue. If it has become too dark, you just have to add a little more orange paint, or failing that, red and yellow.
Use green and red to make brown
- This time we will start with green paint. If you don’t have it, you can make it by mixing blue and yellow in equal parts. Keep in mind that if you use more yellow the green will be lighter and brighter. On the other hand, if you add more blue, you will get a darker shade of green. The amount of green will give you the amount of brown you will need.
- To obtain the brown color you will gradually add small amounts of red and mix the paint. If you want to get a darker brown, just add more red. And if you want the brown to have a greener tone then add a little more green.
Use purple and yellow to make brown
- For this mix we start with a good amount of purple, as much as brown you want to use, if you don’t have it you can also get it through a mix. Mix in the same amount red and blue. The darker you want it, add more amount of blue.
- Next we are going to add little by little yellow paint and we will be mixing the colors very well. If you want a lighter brown you just have to add a little more yellow until you get the shade you want. If you want to darken it instead, add more purple.
Use primary colors
- Once you have more experience with mixing colors, you can make your brown color starting from the combination of the three primary colors, without first resorting to a secondary tone (such as green, purple, and orange).
